General Questions

What is a pre-engineered building (PEB)?

A pre-engineered building is a steel structure whose frame is designed and fabricated in a factory to suit one specific building, then transported and bolted together on site. Because members are sized to the actual loads rather than picked from standard sections, a PEB typically uses less steel, costs less and goes up far faster than conventional construction.

How much cheaper is a PEB than a conventional RCC structure?

For industrial buildings the saving usually shows up in three places: less steel through optimised member design, a much shorter construction period, and lighter foundations because the structure itself weighs less. The exact figure depends on span, height and site, but the schedule saving is often worth more to a client than the material saving.

How long does it take to build a PEB shed?

A typical industrial shed of 1,000–2,000 m² runs about 3–5 weeks of fabrication after drawing approval, then 2–4 weeks of erection and sheeting. Foundations proceed in parallel with fabrication, which is where most of the time advantage comes from.

Do you handle design, fabrication and erection, or only supply?

We do all three in-house, and we recommend taking them together. When one party owns the drawing, the steel and the erection, a fit-up problem gets solved instead of becoming a dispute. We will supply material only if you already have an erection contractor you trust.

Which areas do you serve?

We fabricate at Fajalpur near Vadodara and serve Vadodara, Anand, Padra, Vasad, Dabhoi, Halol, Jambusar, Godhra, Bharuch, Ankleshwar, Dahej, Ahmedabad, Surat and Vapi across Gujarat, plus Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh. Projects outside this belt are considered case by case.

What standards do you design and fabricate to?

Structural design follows IS 800, with loading per IS 875 and seismic provisions per IS 1893 where applicable. Plate material is normally IS 2062 E250 or E350 procured against test certificates, and fabrication follows the approved shop drawings with dimensional and weld checks recorded.

Can you add a crane to the building?

Yes — and tell us at the design stage even if the crane is a future plan. Designing the columns and bracing for a crane now costs very little; reinforcing an existing frame for one later costs a great deal and usually means disrupting operations.

Do you provide foundation drawings?

We issue the foundation reaction schedule and anchor-bolt setting-out plan, which is what your civil designer needs. Foundation design itself depends on your soil report and is normally handled by your civil consultant — we coordinate directly with them so the packages match.

What maintenance does a steel building need?

Very little. An annual visual check of the sheeting, gutters, downtakes and fasteners, clearing debris from gutters before the monsoon, and touching up any paint damage. With a coating system specified for the site's actual exposure, the framing itself is effectively maintenance-free for decades.

How do I get a quotation?

Send us the plot dimensions, required clear span, eave height, what will happen inside the building and the site location. That is enough for a realistic budget figure, usually within a day or two. For a firm quote we will do a site visit and confirm the load brief first.

PEB Fabrication

How long does PEB fabrication take?

For a typical industrial shed of 1,000–2,000 m², fabrication runs about 3–5 weeks after drawing approval, depending on the current shop load and how much of the steel is in stock. Larger multi-bay structures are fabricated and dispatched in phases so erection can begin on the first bay while later bays are still in the shop.

Do you fabricate to IS standards?

Yes. Design follows IS 800 for steel structures, with IS 875 for dead, live and wind loading and IS 1893 where seismic loading applies. Material is procured against test certificates and fabrication follows the approved shop drawings.

Can you fabricate from drawings supplied by our consultant?

Yes. We fabricate to client or consultant drawings, and we will also review them and flag anything that would cause a fit-up problem at site before cutting begins. If you would rather we handle the design too, our in-house engineering team can take it from the load brief onwards.

What steel grade do you use?

Primary framing is normally fabricated from IS 2062 E250 or E350 plate depending on the design, with cold-formed secondary members in high-yield galvanised or black steel as specified. The grade is confirmed at the design stage and recorded on the drawings.

PEB Engineering

What information do you need to start the engineering?

At minimum: the plot dimensions and required clear span, the eave height, what will happen inside the building, whether a crane is needed and at what capacity, and the site location so we can fix the wind and seismic parameters. A plot plan or survey drawing helps; we can work from a sketch if that is what exists.

Do you provide foundation drawings as well?

We provide the foundation reaction schedule and anchor-bolt setting-out plan, which is what the civil designer needs. Foundation design itself depends on your soil report and is normally done by your civil consultant — we coordinate with them directly so the two packages match.

How long does the design phase take?

A general arrangement drawing typically comes within a few days of the load brief being fixed. Full shop and erection drawings follow after you approve the GA, usually within one to two weeks for a standard industrial building.

Can you design for a crane added later?

Yes, and it is far cheaper to design for it now than to reinforce for it later. If a crane is a future possibility, tell us the likely capacity at the design stage and we will provision the columns and bracing accordingly.

Fabrication & Erection

Do you take responsibility for both supply and erection?

Yes — that is the point of the combined scope. One contract, one schedule and one party accountable for the structure standing correctly. If something does not fit, it is our problem to solve, not a dispute between two vendors.

How long does erection take?

A standard 1,000–2,000 m² shed is normally erected in about two to four weeks once foundations are cured and the site is clear, including sheeting. Larger or crane-fitted structures take longer. Access, weather and civil readiness are usually what move the date, not the steelwork.

Who does the civil and foundation work?

Foundations are normally executed by your civil contractor to the reaction schedule and anchor-bolt plan we issue. We coordinate the setting-out with them and check bolt positions before erection begins, because a misplaced anchor bolt is the most expensive small error on a PEB site.

Can you erect a structure that someone else fabricated?

We can, subject to reviewing the drawings and inspecting the fabricated material first. We will not take erection responsibility for members we have not verified, because the liability for a fit-up failure would sit with us regardless of who cut the steel.

Shed Fabrication

What does a fabricated shed cost per square foot?

Cost depends on span, eave height, crane provision, sheeting specification and site location, so a per-square-foot figure quoted without those is meaningless. Send us the span, height and intended use and we will give you a specific budget figure — usually within a day or two.

What is the maximum clear span you can build?

Clear spans of 30–40 m are routine with a single gable frame, and larger spans are achievable with a multi-span or truss arrangement. Beyond a point the economics change, so we usually present two options — one with an intermediate column line and one without — and let you compare the cost.

Can you extend an existing shed?

Yes, and it is a common request. We survey the existing structure, check whether the end frame can take the extension loads, and design the new bays to tie in. Occasionally the existing frame needs strengthening first — we will tell you if so before quoting.

How long does a shed last?

With a properly specified coating system and basic maintenance, a steel shed structure has a service life measured in decades. Sheeting is normally the first element to need attention; the framing outlasts it comfortably when the paint system was chosen for the actual site exposure.

Warehouse Fabrication

What eave height should a warehouse have?

It follows the racking. As a rough guide, 8–10 m suits most modern pallet racking, 6–7 m is adequate for hand-stacked or lighter storage, and above 12 m becomes worthwhile only when the material handling equipment can genuinely reach it. Tell us the racking plan and we will confirm the number.

Can you build a cold storage warehouse?

Yes. Cold storage is an envelope problem as much as a structural one, so we design the framing and the insulated panel system together — continuous insulation, minimal thermal bridging, and doors and dock seals detailed properly. Half-measures here show up on the electricity bill every month.

How fast can a warehouse be built?

Fabrication of a mid-sized warehouse typically runs four to six weeks after drawing approval, with erection and sheeting taking a further four to eight weeks depending on area. Foundations run in parallel with fabrication, which is where a pre-engineered building gains most of its time advantage over conventional construction.

Do you build godowns for agricultural storage?

Yes — agro and produce godowns are a regular part of our work, particularly around Dabhoi, Jambusar and Padra. These typically need wide clear spans for heaped storage, high eaves, and good cross-ventilation to control moisture.
